In 1892, Josef Weber – inspired by the Parisian tradition – founded the first large department store in Zurich and called it “Bazar ohne Gleichen“ (bazaar beyond compare). Shortly thereafter, the banker Heinrich Burkhardt became Josef Weber’s business partner. Subsequently, he purchased the department store and transformed into a limited company – “Magazine zum Globus“ in 1907, thereby giving it today’s name.
GLOBUS has become an institution in Switzerland. For more than 100 years, it has captivated its visitors with an exquisite and exclusive range of products for a luxurious lifestyle and with an unparalleled service.
